    Ownership and investment. Real community. Co-op living is designed to give you more, unlike the more traditional options of condos, townhouses, or rentals. As part of a housing cooperative, you and other members own and govern the building, land, and common areas. This community of neighbors contributes monthly to cover operating expenses.

    The many cost advantages of co-op living include a high level of owner financial security. You pay your one-time share payment (or equity payment) then your ongoing monthly membership fees. Because cooperatives operate at cost, co-op monthly fees are often well below rental market value.

The Hearth is your new coffee shop within the comforts of the Artessa Canterbury Crossing living community. A book exchange, tv streaming the daily news and a 360-degree fireplace make this space one you’ll enjoy debating the latest politics, snuggling up with a book by the window seat, or catching up on the recent community happenings.

    3. WELLNESS STUDIO

    Whether your daily routine involves a workout, yoga, or meditation, the Wellness Studio provides an escape for you to keep that routine in check or get a chance to start a whole new one involving state-of-the-art equipment and multi-purpose flooring selected specifically for this Artessa Canterbury Crossing community.

    The guest suite offers flexibility to Artessa Canterbury Crossing owners to put a friend or family up in its own king bed hotel suite. This suite has all the amenities you’d find in an upscale hotel room and can be reserved in advance of any family get-together to ensure those visiting have a room of their own during their stay.

    8. THE TERRACE

    A 1,500 square foot outdoor living room with an outdoor fire pit, grilling station, and a mix of seating invite you to take in the vibrant neighborhood surroundings.

    PARKING

    Each unit comes with 1 assigned parking space [typ. 9’ X18’] within the heated garage. There are an additional 18 parking spaces in the garage that can be rented month-to-month from the cooperative for those wishing to have a 2nd car. In addition to the garage parking spaces, there are 29 spaces on the surface parking lot with convenient access to the building if you decide to stop back at the building in between errands or for your visitors looking for the front door

    CHARGING STATION

    The garage has 1 designated flex stall for electric vehicle charging.

    CAR & PET WASHING

    The garage features a designated car and pet washing stall that could also be used to hose down a muddy bike should you decide to do some off-roading along the regional trails accessible directly from the Artessa Canterbury Crossing site.

    MAKERSPACE

    Your next Mancave or She-shed is located off the heated garage. This space accommodates woodworking, carpentry, pottery, and other forms of creative works to be completed in a room designed to get messy

    STORAGE

    In addition to having ample closet space within each unit, there are 30 storage lockers within the building which can be rented month-to-month from the cooperative for those desiring to store seasonal or special items. An additional storage cabinet can be purchased to set in front of your vehicle in the assigned parking space – talk to your sales representative for more information.

    BIKE STORAGE

    Bike racks are provided in a designated area of the basement.

    PICKLEBALL COURT

    A pickleball court can be found in the northwest corner of the property. This private court will be quite the talk of the town and the envy of your neighbors that will undoubtedly ask to join your Artessa Canterbury Crossing league.

    Members collectively own and control the cooperative community in which they reside. Members buy a share in the cooperative corporation, which owns the land, building, and any common areas. Members receive the exclusive right to occupy a specific residence. There is a member-elected board of directors and professional management to direct and assist in operations ongoing.

    Yes, Artessa Development and affiliate Lifestyle Communities take great pride in working with the members to ensure an environmentally friendly and sustainable building. The Artessa Cooperative is designed to perform with high energy efficiency in both the member residences as well the common areas. Artessa properties are built following sustainability practices that lead to a better living environment for the members and more responsible means of construction than many other developments.

    The following identifies the primary sustainability and energy efficiency measures used in Artessa:

    • Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
    • LED lighting extensively through common amenity areas and member residences
    • Occupancy sensors are utilized in common spaces, such as stairwells and garages, to minimize energy consumption when spaces are lightly utilized or infrequently used throughout a 24-hour timeframe. Occupancy Sensors are also utilized for site lighting on parking and driving areas (Dark Sky Compliant)
    • Energy Star Appliances

    Building Materials & Practices:

    • Low VOC paints, coatings, adhesives, and sealants
    • Recycled content (50% post-industrial; 25% post-consumer)
    • Regional materials (products produced within 500 miles of site)
    • Environmental flooring
    • Mold prevention materials for surfaces and shower/tub locations
    • Construction waste recycling, salvaging, and landfill diversion (up to 75%)

    The tax benefits are similar to those you enjoy with a single-family home. The real estate taxes and mortgage interest payment associated with your monthly membership fee can be tax-deductible. 

    Your share will increase at a fixed annual maximum compounded rate (typically 2%, but this rate can be found in the cooperative’s governing documents).  

    We welcome pets at Artessa as long as they are well-mannered.  Please see an Artessa representative for requirements. 

    Yes. No smoking is allowed in individual residences, common areas or on the grounds of the cooperative. 

    We know that storage is an important feature when looking to make a move.  At Artessa we strive to include large spacious closets and cabinets within each residence as well as provide separate individual storage areas within the community for those items you treasure but might not use on a daily basis 

    Once you’re ready to move forward, you’ll meet with an Artessa representative to complete a reservation agreement. This allows you priority to select the residence of your choice without a big financial and emotional commitment. The reservation fee is $1,000 and is fully refundable if you decide not to move forward, or it will be applied to your future purchase. 

    One of the unique features of moving into Artessa is your ability to personalize your home to fit your taste.  As part of the buying experience, you will meet with the Design Project Manager to select a variety of custom options such as countertops, lighting, flooring, appliances, cabinets and so much more.   

    Yes. Typically one nicely appointed guest suite is available for friends and family for a small fee that supports the cooperatives’ operating budget.   

    At Artessa, you receive one underground heated garage stall with your purchase. Extra underground garage spaces are available for rent and are assigned based on availability and reservation priority. Additional surface parking is also available at no cost.
